The past couple of years Youtube, Google Video, Metacafe and several other video hosting sites have been flooded by “Hitler finds out…” videos. In fact he has, by now, found out about several things, like disasters, resignations, game results, events, etc and usually the reaction remains the same . These Parodies of Hitler and several associated events have become a huge phenomenon and have finally reached Greece.
The scenes that are used in those videos come from the 2004 movie, Downfall, a German movie about Hitler’s last days. The film is outstanding. Cannot recommend it highly enough. There are over a hundred parody videos mostly using the climactic scene in which Hitler displays a frightening tantrum in the presence of his officers. This footage has been used to show Hitler’s passion about bloggers, political movements, Michael Jackson, video games and now the never ending rivalry between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos fans here in Greece. The scene is definetaly one of the most powerful in Downfall.
Posters have taken to pasting humorous subtitles over the action. Honestly, it is entertaining as all hell, so we collected a few to share with you.
